We Offer The Best Epoxy Floor Coatings

Our client approached us looking for a solution to the problem at their Philadelphia-based warehouse. The problem was that the warehouse felt dingy and dirty. No matter how many lights they installed, it felt dark and tired.

It didn't matter how often they cleaned the floor; it still looked dirty and was an embarrassment when someone visited the facility. There was also a lot of pitting, which caused the floor scrubber to leave little puddles behind. Overall, the Philadelphia warehouse floor was a complete mess.

After interviewing our client and walking around the warehouse, we proposed a few different flooring options across a handful of different budget ranges. We proposed something as simple as grinding the floor and installing a clear epoxy or urethane sealer. Another option was to install a colored epoxy floor (which is what was selected). Other options were an epoxy floor with flake and polished concrete.

Epoxy Floor with Color in Philadelphia PA

Our client chose an Epoxy floor with color because it would give them a very clean look. The floor will be smooth and uniform in color.

A solid-color epoxy allows the floor to be patched and will not show the patchwork like a clear or polished concrete. Epoxy floors reflect a lot of light.

Epoxy floors are simple and cost-effective to clean. They are also durable and can withstand forklift and vehicle traffic. Most importantly, epoxy floors fit the budget.

The installation consisted of an epoxy-based vapor barrier, a 100% solid epoxy coat in medium grey, and a urethane top coat. The installation was completed in just a few days with little interruption to their business. Actually, we completed the floor one day faster than initially projected.

The warehouse is nice and bright now that the epoxy floor has been installed. They can keep the space clean with a routine scrubber. They could also unhook some of the overhead lights, saving money on electricity. Most importantly, the epoxy floor came within their budget.

Can Install Epoxy On Any Commercial Floor?

The type of material, condition, and space usage all determine whether a coating is suitable.

  1. Concrete Surfaces – Best for Coatings

Most commercial and industrial spaces use concrete as a base, which makes it an ideal candidate for a durable finish. When properly prepared, coatings bond well and provide a smooth, long-lasting surface that resists wear, stains, and moisture.

  1. Tile or Pre-Coated Areas – Requires Special Preparation

Spaces with existing finishes, such as tile or painted surfaces, may need extra preparation to ensure proper adhesion. Removing old layers, or applying a bonding agent, can help create a strong foundation for a new protective layer.

  1. Wood and Laminate – Not Always Recommended

Natural materials like wood or laminate expand and contract with temperature changes, which can cause cracking or peeling over time. While some coatings can be applied with special treatment, these materials typically don’t provide the same durability as concrete or metal.

  1. Metal and Industrial Platforms – Possible with the Right Process

In settings such as factories, warehouses, and machine shops, coatings can be used on metal surfaces to prevent corrosion, improve safety, and enhance longevity. Proper priming is required to ensure the material bonds effectively.

Which Type of Epoxy System Should I Choose for My Commercial Surface?

Choosing the right protective system for a commercial space depends on traffic levels, chemical exposure, longevity needs, and aesthetic preferences. Here are the most common options and their best uses:

1. High-Solid Resin – Maximum Durability

  • Best for warehouses, manufacturing plants, and high-traffic areas
  • Contains no solvents, making it highly thick, long-lasting, and impact-resistant
  • Handles chemicals, abrasions, and heavy machinery with ease

2. Water-Based Application – Budget-Friendly & Easy Maintenance

  • Ideal for retail stores, office spaces, and light-duty areas
  • Provides a thinner protective layer but is still reliable and easy to clean
  • Environmentally friendly with low odor and minimal emissions

3. Self-Leveling Compound – Smooth & Seamless

  • Great for healthcare facilities, food processing plants, and auto shops
  • Creates a perfectly even surface for safety and easy cleaning
  • Fills minor cracks and imperfections, giving a polished, professional appearance

4. Decorative Chip System – Slip-Resistant & Stylish

  • Common in restaurants, showrooms, and commercial kitchens
  • Uses vinyl flakes to add texture, durability, and better traction
  • Hides imperfections while offering a unique aesthetic appeal

5. Metallic Finishes – High-End, Custom Look

  • Ideal for hotels, boutiques, salons, and luxury spaces
  • Produces stunning, reflective designs with a marbled or 3D effect
  • Offers both beauty and durability for an eye-catching surface

6. Quartz Aggregate System – Extreme Strength & Grip

  • Used in hospitals, laboratories, and industrial kitchens
  • Embedded quartz granules enhance durability and slip resistance
  • Highly resistant to moisture, impact, and bacterial buildup

7. Heavy-Duty Mortar Blend – Built for High Impact

  • Perfect for factories, garages, and areas with forklifts or heavy machinery
  • Made with a dense resin mixture and graded sand for maximum strength
  • Handles intense impact, extreme temperatures, and harsh chemicals

FAQs

How does a solid epoxy compare to other coating options for concrete floors?

It contains a higher percentage of resin, which means a thicker, more durable surface compared to water-based or solvent-based coatings. This option provides superior protection for warehouses, factories, and industrial spaces, ensuring a longer lifespan and resistance to heavy traffic.

What makes epoxy flooring a good choice for commercial spaces?

It creates a durable, seamless, stain-resistant surface that protects high-traffic areas. This coating is resistant to chemicals, moisture, and wear, making it ideal for businesses that need a long-lasting and easy-to-maintain solution.

Can an epoxy kit be used for commercial flooring systems?

While an epoxy kit may work for small spaces, commercial flooring systems require professional-grade materials and expert installation for maximum durability. Kits often provide a thinner application and may not withstand the heavy use and exposure that commercial environments demand.

How long does an epoxy coating last on a commercial concrete floor?

With proper maintenance, a high-quality coating can last 10-20 years in commercial settings. Its lifespan depends on traffic levels, chemical exposure, and the number of coats applied.

What types of top coats are used for in commercial spaces?

Top coats vary based on the space's needs and can include UV-resistant, anti-slip textures, high gloss finish, and chemical-resistant coatings. Choosing the right top coat ensures a longer-lasting and safer surface for commercial environments.
